As Christians, created in the image of God and filled with the Holy Spirit, we are all imbued with creative power and the ability to make broken things beautiful. Jesus’ glory is what we put on display when we embody His redemptive creativity and artistry. Our culture is saturated by a limited, reductionist, and nihilistic world view, yet the creative arts speak to the transcendent nature of who God is and who we are invited to become in Him. Through creating, we express the grace and redemption we’ve experienced in Jesus as He leads us from darkness to light.
Starting October 23rd
David Guenter is a Vancouver-based artist and architect, and member of Centre Church.
Though painterly in appearance, his artwork is not created with paintbrushes, but with construction tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, chisels, and palette knives.
Botanical themes recur throughout the collection, as though the endless diversity of flowers and foliage provides inexhaustible muses for creative exploration. More than mere plants, they appear as organic pyrotechnics, exploding with colour, reverberating with texture, and applauding the exuberant variation within God’s creation.
As White Cricket, solo artist Jack Aldous blends atmospheric sonic landscapes with upbeat guitar riffs, layering live drums with delicate percussive elements alongside dreamy synth pop melodies.
His debut album, Inertia, explores themes of nostalgia and longing, with a hopeful resolution to discover inner peace. Sitting at 8 tracks and 40 minutes in length, Inertia is an intentionally concise, evocative record, with meticulous production and thoughtful textures woven together to create an experience of tranquility and hope.
